The D'Day has come, ISRO successfully launched ANUSAT, a Nano satellite
(another NANO :-) apart from TaTa-Nano).
I am very happy to hear this good news and remember the days I have been a
member of the "Store and Forward" Payload software team.

Mepco terminologies

Some terminologies and definitions in Mepco sense. Found these in another mepcoite’s blog. I have made some changes and added a few. If you remember more, add it.

O Podu - Used in chorus mostly for a super hero act or a stupid act.

Peter - Boy who shows off his English language skills, in front of girls
Pillayar Kovil - Place for hours together kadalai, exam time prayers
Psycho - anybody and everybody mepcoite.
Scoot - Skip a written exam
Thee - Superb / Excellent
Valiyal - Idli kadai speciality, half cooked omelets (nothing to do with Jollu )
Workshop - Place to display your strength – over-file the specimen, break the wooden pieces etc

OK, we are done!

It was great!

Objective : To see at least some of the class mates after 5 years and to catch up with them and exchange notes. For those of you under a rock or for those who delete the mails coming from mepcominnal religiously just a quick recap; We had a get together at Chennai on June 10 at Blue Lagoon resorts!

The meet started at around 10 AM when people started coming in. After a small round of introductions where everyone tried to explain what they have been up to, the organizers started off with the usual 'party games'. The objective of the first game was to see who could draw the Indian map - blindfolded! This naturally, produced some - to put it mildly - scary maps of India with some maps resembling a ghost (the one drawn by MSM deserves special mention for this). Next was a jodi porutham for Mr and Mrs.Alagar (a video of which should show up shortly at a site near you). Subha and Vijai Arun also provided some insights about marriage to the newly married couple.

A picture dumbcee contest followed and chaos ensued as the judges(Kani and Siva) announced the results since the participants were not convinced that the winners deserved the price. Then trenchers time. After a short siesta games resumed. First was the balloon tower contest. Teams had to build a tower made using balloons and the team which made the tallest tower won. This was followed by a quiz contest with a difference. Sample questions :
1. Filing:Muruga::Carpentry:?
2. What name of the class we were in the final year?
3. Names of the boys hostels?
And many more such questions...

After this we went over to the beach had some fun throwing frisbees and lazing around, came back, had coffee and the prize distribution ceremony commenced. Prices were given out to the winners of the various 'contests'. Srikanth and Sowmya were voted as the most active participants We had got some dolls as well since we expected the parents amongst us to turn up with kids in tow. Since that didn't happen we just presented the dolls to the parents.


Hopefully the next reunion will see most of us turn up with their spouses and kids :)

Congrats to Alagar on his marriage to Priya!

Way to BlueLagoon

The above picture shows the way to Blue Lagoon, where our get-to-gether is going to be held. Its straight forward, as you reach Thriuvanmiyur Bus stand start moving along the East Coast Road (ECR). After 5 kms, to the left you will see a huge hoarding showing PUNJABI DHABA and next to it you will see a pointer leading to "BLUE LAGOON RESORTS". Take a left there and keep going along the road. The road will end and take a right and after a while another left. Finally you will land up at BLUE LAGOON RESORTS.

If you have any problems getting there, get in touch with Mohan (9840373610), Kani (9841346784), SivaKumar (9841731143), Swami (9980011605).

The get-to fun is planned to start at 10am. To keep us motivated, there will  surprize gifts for the first 5 who reach Blue Lagoon.

Get together plans gathering steam!

Am sure you have seen the mail in the group about the upcoming get-together. I expect the strength of the gathering to be around 30-35 which, IMO, is a very good number after 5 years of completing college. The get-together is at Blue Lagoon resort. Hope to see you there! And for folks who are not able to make it, I'll try to post some photos for your vicarious pleasure :)
