Sivaram's guest book entry

This was my comment I tried posting at Sivaraman's guestbook in his site http://www.geocities.com/rangoli_painting , but it accepts only short messages. So am posting it here.
--------------------

Siva, I read through your comments on every rangoli image. But I have to make a few things clear to the visitors of your site. You have mentioned 'We' in most of the images. But it was actually 'YOU' who did most of the work, and in some cases, all of the work. I was one of those watchers sitting around and talking you out of sleep (those long nights were really exhaustive) and doing small assists. I don't deserve the praise you have attributed to me. I am not trying to be too humble; it's just my frank view. You single handedly performed on all those powder rangolis with very little support from me and others. It was a great experience working with you and our hi5 team. I am sure that your magnanimity will take you to greater heights. Good Luck!

Favorite Firefox Extensions

What are the Firefox Extensions you use?
My list goes like...
'Googlebar lite' - a light weight google search toolbar,
'PDF download' - allows to download or view PDF files inside Firefox,
'ReminderFox' - displays and manages reminders and ToDo's-extremely useful,
'IE view' - opens pages in IE from Firefox menus,
'TabX' - adds a close button to each of the tabs,
'FireSomething' - changes name display of firefox randomly - just for fun.
suggest some real useful extensions.

Aadi attagasam

I don’t know how many of you are interested in ads. We have been brought up watching DD. They made ads a thing to hate, because of their excessive ads during prime time movies and those final and first ball eating ad break during fiercely fought India Vs X matches (and why our team ‘fights’ hard even with weak teams is another matter).

Today’s TV channels have better discipline in telecasting ads. These days, (most) advertisements are a treat to watch. There is healthy competition between ad agencies. The era of mud slinging ads looks to have found its death. Everyone is working for their survival rather than trying to belittle their competitors (at least in their ads).

Recent years have seen advertisements made for occasions. This season is the Aadi sale time and all textile showrooms have come up with glamorous and colorful advertisements that are a big hit with the households. We can easily relate terms like ‘glamorous’, colorful’, ‘beautiful’ with textile ads. This season adds a new term-‘Foot tapping’ - to textile ads and that is the reason for starting this topic. The trend this time is good songs for ads. Some are fast songs and some melodious and packed well with nice dance movements.

Starting from the musical Textile India ad to Chennai silks, Saravana stores, SPB silks, Pothys, Erode Barani -the list goes on…all these ads are very good. And that, majority of the ads are made with Chennai modeling girls, is another nice trend.

AJAX

If you follow the blogosphere, you would notice that the past few months it's been abuzz with all the talk about AJAX. It's supposed to stand for Asynchronous JAvascript and XML. But it need not necesarrily involve XML. As many people would love to point out this was something that Microsoft invented(and got it right).

All this buzz started after google showcased
google suggest
(You haven't seen that site yet?). It's all about providing the user with the 'real-time' experiance that web apps have so far struggled to provide. Check out the following links to know more about AJAX:

http://www.webpasties.com/xmlHttpRequest/

http://developer.apple.com/internet/webcontent/xmlhttpreq.html

So next time you built that snazzy web app of yours consider XMLHTTPRequest, it might add some value.

BTW, No, I did not make up the word blogosphere, it does exist.

Anniyan blast!

Did you watch the trailer of Anniyan movie? I saw the trailer at Sathyam a couple of weeks before. My first thought was….’hoooo….awesome’. Every shot had shanker’s punch and his usual grandeur. The songs were too good. As with all Shanker’s movie, the songs sound better with the visual! The fight sequences were also new( to tamil cinema). The undertaker suit fitted Vikram superbly. I enjoyed everything from the title to the last bit of the TRAILER. Huh..its just the trailer. I am very much looking forward to that movie.

Many of my friends went to watch movies like XXX2 and Naina only to get a glimpse of Anniyan. Thats the kind of hype it has created. I just start to get a feel that all these excitement around Anniyan is stretching a bit too much. Now that the trailer is been shown on TV, there is more talk about it. There are already ‘reviews’ of the ‘trailer’ in some magz that it has not gone well with the female audience. There is also news that the producer has stopped the current trailer and wants to go with a softer trailer showing lesser violence. Undoubtedly they don’t want to risk with this huge budget film (30 crores……oooops).

fillin the blanks

please find a,b,c,d
by
s.saravanan

hai a)______________,
Well I have almost recovered from the
catastrophe..! Thanks for your consideration in
enquiring about my state. Well I'm very very ....
sorry for what it has caused you. Really it was very
painful to hear from b)__________ the other day at
college that you were so irritated and so concerned
she had never seen you like before.
Forget those things for ever. Well I thought of
saying this to you the other day itself, the amount of
ottal I indulged in, I have announced ceasefire. For
talking itself in our college one has to face so many
pressures and in the end I think it is a good
adventure ..?
Well I had taken the effort to call you at madurai
from d)_________, why don't you call from trichy so
that I can say everyone(friends!) that a)___________
called me over phone.
I am simply spending my time in front the computer
here. What do plan to do in the evenings at trichy?
Will you be returning to the college on 2nd or will
you be on project OD?
There is one more issue(which took place in my
absence) that I would like to talk to you but not now,
about which b)____________ told me something but I was
not in the mood to listen to anything on the other
day(I think you would have known by now what I am
talking about).
I suppose you would have applied to univ's by now
and have you got any positive replies.
Bye 4 now

yours friendly,
C)___________
