Anniyan blast!

Did you watch the trailer of Anniyan movie? I saw the trailer at Sathyam a couple of weeks before. My first thought was….’hoooo….awesome’. Every shot had shanker’s punch and his usual grandeur. The songs were too good. As with all Shanker’s movie, the songs sound better with the visual! The fight sequences were also new( to tamil cinema). The undertaker suit fitted Vikram superbly. I enjoyed everything from the title to the last bit of the TRAILER. Huh..its just the trailer. I am very much looking forward to that movie.

Many of my friends went to watch movies like XXX2 and Naina only to get a glimpse of Anniyan. Thats the kind of hype it has created. I just start to get a feel that all these excitement around Anniyan is stretching a bit too much. Now that the trailer is been shown on TV, there is more talk about it. There are already ‘reviews’ of the ‘trailer’ in some magz that it has not gone well with the female audience. There is also news that the producer has stopped the current trailer and wants to go with a softer trailer showing lesser violence. Undoubtedly they don’t want to risk with this huge budget film (30 crores……oooops).

Whats your (re)view..!

The trailer is available online at anniyan.com Is it the same trailer you saw at the theater?

Seems some fight sequences have been 'inspired' from sequences in Matrix 2. No?

Yeah...its a similar one..but with more content. It included some song sequences and some dialogues too. The one in Anniyan site does not have any dialogues or songs. Trailers on TV have songs...you can get that at tamiltricks.com

woo..hoo...! watched the movie today.
Shanker has done a wonderful job. Vikram is too good.
'Kaadhal yaanai' song is superb.
Vikram has produced a gem of a performance in the final CBI enquiry scene.
The stunts - well done..but a bit too exaggerated, i thought. (to forgive is devine)
I think the film has fulfilled all expectations.
A 'MUST WATCH' movie. Its a bit bloody though.

IMHO, Anniyan is a mix of "indian" and Matrix reloaded :) The story line is highly predictable. This is the second movie this season with the "split personlity" theme (other being "chandramukhi"). Songs are not that good but full marks for the picturisation. wonderful camera! Should watch movie in a theater to get the feel of the grandure and clourfulness! The fight sequences are tooooo much especially the matrix reloaded fight (he spent 5 crores on just that fight). Not a great movie but not a dud either!

From a SW engg point of view :

I remember a movie by name "Ramana" by our Captain. He types something on a win media player screen ...!! atleast such nonsense isnt repeated in this film!! internet plays a "crucial" part in the movie!! they find out vikram is the culprit by tracing out his IP :) hhhmmmmm ... tamil cinema has gone hitech!!

I also remember seeing a Arjun movie where the satellite(??) starts zooming into the house of the villians and pans from one room to another!

I watched it yesterday. My friends who watched with me liked it so much and have promised to watch it again(and again!). I would definately say watch it once. The film has traces of Gentleman(probably Shankar's best work) and Indian. As Aananth mentions many fight sequences are inspired from Matrix-revolutions. Storyline has loopholes, but you know what? am willing to let them pass since the movie provides enough bang for buck.

I watched the movie too. Simply loved it. Shankar's back with a bang !! Great performance by Vikram and Prakash Raj. Nobody could have played this part as well as Vikram. Cool use of technology. The dialogues were simply superb... very contemporary. Defly agree with Sivakumar.. it is a MUST WATCH.
